CLINICAL ACTIVITIES

The Oro Valley Hospital has a policy on the clinical activities for the treatment of patients during an emergency.  These activities include triage, scheduling, assessment, treatment, and discharge.  See policy 10,079 and 6326 and 6328.  The ED along with Nursing Services policies and procedures addresses these clinical areas.

Oro Valley Hospital will evacuate when the environment cannot support care, treatment and services. (EM.02.02.03.9-10). Under emergency situations the hospital departments can evacuate horizontally as need to support patient care.   Upon order of the incident commander units will evacuate vertically, beginning with the ambulatory patients and finishing with the critical care unit.   Whenever possible, unit or floor evacuation will occur first and moving to another area of the facility.   When this is not possible patients will be moved to an alternative care site, first choice the closest hospital:  Northwest Medical Center, 6200 N. LaCholla.
